Perth has plenty of hidden gems in its sprawling suburbs, but the sheer number of next-level eateries in the city center is extremely difficult to resist.
Whether you're chatting with a client or looking for the perfect steamy spot for your next Hinge date, here are just a few of our favorites.
apple daily news
We've written about the 'multi-level venue' description many times over the last few years, but when it comes to Perth's massive multi-venue operations…Print Hall was ahead of the curve. After changing hands and relaunching in 2023, Print Hall's Asian-influenced Apple Daily has undergone a transformation (or three) of its own, emerging with a new menu and reinvigorated approach. Incorporating flavors from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Japan and the Philippines, head chef James Wong maintains tight control over the cuisine and brings a clear sense of his far-reaching geographical influences. (I also have to give a shout out to John, whose elegant service is the proverbial cherry on top.)
Heritage Wine Bar
Featuring crisp white linens, bentwood chairs, and a monochromatic palette, Heritage Wine Bar exudes a classic feel, as its name suggests. There are no trendy gimmicks here, and the menu has a distinctly European flair without being bound by tradition. Think steak tartare with black garlic and bonito, a crudo with a tangy topping of candied lemon, yogurt and za'atar, or a burger perfect for a lunch break. .
131 St George's Terrace, Perth
long chim
Whenever I visit Longchim, the excitement is high. The Thai street food mecca has been something of an institution since opening in 2015, and for good reason. Bringing a slice of Bangkok to the basement of Parliament House, the menu will literally shock you in the face with its flavours.
State Buildings, 1 Cathedral Avenue, Perth
Hifumiya / Jigoro
Despite its hidden location in an alleyway between Murray Street and Wellington Street, it's testament to the high quality of the food that Hifumiya serves, and it's a favorite among Perth's noodle lovers. It boasts cult popularity. The food at lunchtime is excellent, but in the evenings the restaurant changes its name to Jigoro and focuses on traditional izakaya dishes such as seared red fin, monkfish liver, fermented squid innards, and sea grapes with ponzu sauce. will be transferred. Immaculate atmosphere.
McLean Lane, 100-104 Murray Street, Perth
balthazar
Sophisticated yet approachable. Good for business but give a wink. This timeless dining room offers all the confident, New York vibes, but with the familiarity of Western Australia. All the hedonistic elements are there: tartare, terrine, kangaroo loin, duck fat potatoes, not to mention an impressive wine wall.
6 Esplanade, Perth
petition
Jack of all trades is often used pejoratively, but in this case we use it as the perfect complement to what the petition can't do. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee, a long lunch, or a convivial dinner with friends, Petition always offers thoughtful menus made with the best local ingredients. (Don't forget the broccoli salad!)
State Buildings, 1 Cathedral Avenue, Perth
Santini
Don't miss Santini's dazzling dining room. Caramel-like terracotta and rich blue hues easily transition from the bright intimacy of a long lunch to a delicious, dimly lit dinner service. The Italian menu successfully balances accessibility with attention to detail and attention to detail, well enough to avoid the clichés of less desirable hotel dining. Combining urban sophistication with classic Mediterranean-Australian vibrancy.
QT, 133 Murray Street, Perth
fleur
Relaunching in early 2022 with a new French-leaning menu, we reaffirmed our appreciation for The Royal's decadent dining room. Decorated with luxurious velvet, Fleur boasts a sophisticated dining experience that blends old world and new wave. Think miso mushroom donuts, decadent scallops topped with lardo and caviar, or beef tongue French toast. (For an even more special treat, enjoy a sumptuous crepe suzette tableside.) Plus, for lunch on Fridays, we've got a new Fleur Burger special that's sure to end early! Now it looks like this.
531 Wellington Street, Perth
wildflower
Wildflower may be Perth's crown jewel of fine dining. As befits the summit of State House, with stunning views of the city and Swan River, the menu journeys through Noongar's six seasons and makes good use of Western Australia's unique ingredients. The gorgeous Treasury building surroundings and sophisticated interiors certainly don't hurt.
State Buildings, 1 Cathedral Avenue, Perth
Nippon Bar + Kitchen
Looks aren't everything, but you won't soon forget Nippon Bar + Kitchen's fluffy flower bar. We offer a selection that pays homage to prefectures across the country, as well as the best Japanese players in the city. Robatayaki is especially noteworthy. Charcoal-grilled prawns, chicken, and M9+ wagyu beef skewers are tender and flavorful, making them the perfect accompaniment to drinks. That is the name of Japan's game. Izakayas are often a confusing place to get lost in, but the concept of having a quick drink and a bite to eat after work seems to be thriving here.
QV1 Plaza, 250 St Georges Terrace, Perth
Back alley curry samurai
This comforting Hokkaido soup curry is my comfort on dark winter days working in the city. We're not the only ones who think so. Rojiura Curry Samurai is Perth's first local curry restaurant. Each bowl features a huge variety of vegetables to keep you nourished all winter long, alongside flavorful fried chicken, Maryland chicken, or juicy pork belly. Don't miss it? Add-ons that take this to the next level are garlicky fried broccoli, cheesy delicious potato mochi, or rice topped with a poached egg and charred cheese.
4A Shaft Lane, Perth
Chuokin
The northern end of Barrack Street may not be the most famous area in town, but the aromatic, tender temptation of Truong Kinh's slow-cooked lamb shanks is enough to tempt anyone. Chewy ribs, crunchy prawns, bright curry – we know where our next lunch break will be.
137 Barrack Street, Perth
post
With a flair for showcasing the best of Western Australia's produce, Post's menu delicately balances good old Italian cuisine with Perth's current balance, while of course reflecting the understated sophistication of State House. After work, stop by for mouth-watering appetizers (like buffalo mozzarella with pickled mushrooms or rosy beef carpaccio) or try pasta dishes like the now-iconic gnocchi, guanciale, chili and tomato rigatoni. Why not take your time to taste it? Dive face-first into the calf cotoletta.
State Buildings, 1 Cathedral Avenue, Perth
Lara Luke
An impressive blend of Italian cuisine infused with the spirit of Western Australia's fresh produce, Lalla Rookh's menu is a lesson in relaxed decadence. When it comes to wine, sommelier Jeremy Prus stocks only the finest selections from Italy and Australia, with an award-winning selection of wines.

Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King
If you're going to do just one thing, you have to do it well. That's the concept behind cult noodle chain Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King, and that's it. Founded by Keisuke Takeda and attached to the Melbourne Hotel. You may have to wait for a seat, but arrive knowing you'll be well rewarded.
33 Milligan Street, Perth
Nao
For Perth ramen fanatics, Nao Ramen needs no introduction. Since moving from their original Murray Street store, they have continued to set the standard. You can choose from four different soup flavors (soy sauce, miso, salt, and spicy miso) and four types of noodles (original egg, green spinach, red chili pepper, and squid ink). Plus, we offer a variety of customizable additional toppings. Perfect ramen. On hot days, we also recommend the famous chilled ramen and tsukemen.

grand orient
Another restaurant attached to the Melbourne Hotel, Grand Orient brings a touch of old world glamor to the city. With an emphasis on Cantonese-style cuisine, it's the perfect place for a great dinner date if you want to indulge in tableside Peking duck in a beautiful setting. Or why not stop by for a more festive weekend dim sum experience?

Samuels on Mill
Another restaurant that dispels the stigma of hotel dining, Samuels is one of the CBD's steamiest hidden gems. The sophisticated, dimly lit dining room is the perfect destination for a date or if you want to impress a client. There are also a number of attractive lunch deals that are easy to find while exploring on weekdays. Gnocchi is a staple in the works, but we're also keeping a close eye on the take-home wine wall.

short order burger company
There's no better way to unwind after a stressful day at work than by spending some one-on-one time with Short Order Berg. Freo's Sunshine Harvester Works is a pop-up success story from humble beginnings, slowly building a burger empire with pillow-soft brioche, juicy grass-fed beef patties cooked medium-rare to perfection, and all the fixin's. I'm building it up. Honestly, what more could you ask for?
800 Hay Street, Perth
Andaluts
Remember the good old days when small bars were a revelation to us and we couldn't get enough of Melbourne's really nice alleyways? Andalus was right at the forefront of the small bar scene and has been there ever since. I am. These guys perfect tapas classics like patatas bravas, boquerones, and calamares, but be sure to look for the specials board with the shining stars.
