MUSKEGON, MI — Developers are converting the former Sons of Norway Hall in Muskegon into a cannabis entertainment center called Fields Canary.
“This will be the restaurant at the heart of our business,” said Fields Canary co-owner Edgar Ramon.
Fields Canary is no ordinary cannabis store. You can do more than just buy marijuana. You can enjoy food and drinks on the spot.

“Our model is not to come and get the product and leave. Our model is to come and get the product and stay,” Ramon said.
He was inspired by wineries and breweries with restaurants and bars.
“People need a safe and welcoming environment to consume alcohol, and they are entitled to enjoy the same privileges and freedoms as alcohol consumers,” Ramon said.
In addition to a bar and restaurant, Fields Canary will also feature a pharmacy, indoor and outdoor consumption spaces, and a greenhouse.

“We're going to have a cultivation facility on this property where we'll produce the product, we'll package the product, we'll sell the product, and then we'll be able to consume that product,” Ramon said.
Ramon said neighbors are excited about the complex.

“Because there's nothing within walking distance for them, not only for cannabis products, but also for the food and drinks that they need for the restaurant experience,” Ramon said.
He knows Fields Canary will be unique, but he also thinks it's the future of cannabis consumption.

“Nowhere else in the world, I've been to Amsterdam and all over the world, have I seen all these licenses under the same roof. So these are exciting times.”
Ramon said Fields Canary should open in early 2025 and hopes to have a grand opening on Marijuana Day, April 20.
