Cannabis streaming channel Cannected is set to have a soft launch on April 20th, and will be available on a variety of services including Apple TV and Roku, MM+M reports. The channel will launch a documentary on May 1st featuring 420Media founder Kelly Accardi, who promotes cannabis as “her miracle.”
420Media was behind a pro-cannabis public service announcement that aired in the Virgin Islands during the 2018 Super Bowl.
Accardi told MM+M that she wants the channel to be “known as a trusted source for cannabis education and entertainment.” She said the journey to create the channel began in 2013 after her Aunt Kathy passed away.
“I'm just a warrior who lost his best friend. When this information gets out there, so many people will heal and help themselves.” – Acardi to MM+M
Other shows on the channel include “5th Quarter,” which explores cannabis and sports; “Nurse Talk” hosted by Nurse Heather discusses the use of medical marijuana. Accardi said future programming could include “business series, game shows, political shows and even TMZ-like shows with industry gossip.”
Heather, a nurse, describes herself as an “evangelical” about the endocannabinoid system and says she didn't learn about it in nursing school.
“What we really need is education,” she told MM+M. “When you start talking about cannabis, there are all kinds of different biases and thoughts and emotions that come up. I want to help other health care providers understand the importance of cannabis.”
