São Jose do Rio Preto, Brazil: Daily consumption of plant-based CBD oil reduces pain associated with spondyloarthritis and increases physical activity, according to a case report published in the journal Cureus.
Researchers in Brazil recorded improvements in a 72-year-old male patient suffering from neuropathic pain due to spondyloarthritis, a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the spine. The patient suffered from chronic pain, numbness, muscle weakness, and limited movement due to his symptoms.
Treatment with CBD oil showed initial improvement within 20 days. These improvements have become more pronounced over time. “After 90 days of treatment, the patient reported pain relief, return to physical activity (walking and swimming), and discontinuation of pain medication use. Muscle strength increased significantly and left arm tremor decreased by 90%. It has decreased.”
The authors of the study concluded, “Based on these results and considering the scientific evidence of the effectiveness of CBD in treating patients with chronic pain from a variety of diseases, this treatment option is an option when traditional drug treatments are inadequate. may be beneficial for such patients.”
The full study, “Cannabidiol for the treatment of spondyloarthritis-related pain: a case report,” is published in Cureus. Additional information about cannabinoids and pain management is available from NORML's publication Clinical Applications for Cannabis and Cannabinoids.
