LAFAYETTE COUNTY – Two Mississippi CBD store owners have been arrested and charged with sale of a controlled substance after local and state law enforcement officers executed multiple warrants resulting from an investigation into violations of Mississippi medical marijuana laws.
Tony Barragan, owner of Hybrid CBD and Relief Relief in Oxford, and James Funk, owner of Slacker's Supply, were arrested and charged with sale of a controlled substance, according to the Oxford Eagle.
According to the Mississippi Department of Taxation, investigators from the Mississippi Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement, with assistance from the Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Drug Task Force and the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, executed multiple warrants in Oxford on Monday resulting from an investigation into violations of the Mississippi Medical Marijuana Act.
Growers have found a way to grow hemp with small amounts of THC, and as long as it's less than 0.03 percent THC, it can be sold in stores across Mississippi.
Earlier this year, Commander Alex Forber of the Metropolitan police's Drug Unit said they were investigating local businesses selling THCA and testing the products to ensure they contained less than 0.03% THC.
