LAHORE, May 7 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a meeting here on Tuesday to review the projects of the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority.
The CM directed the authorities concerned to finalize contracts with companies from China, South Korea and Saudi Arabia for the construction of IT City in Lahore. She directed them to “achieve annual targets for the CBD project and submit progress reports accordingly.”
At the meeting, it was agreed to set up CBD business centers in eight cities of Punjab. Besides the construction of a stadium, the meeting also discussed a proposal to establish a 'sports city' in Sialkot.
A decision has been taken to legislate the establishment of real estate investment trusts in Punjab. The progress of silicon cluster development in the IT city of Lahore was also reviewed.
Earlier, the CM was briefed that the CBD Grand Central Station will be built at Karma Chowk in Lahore. A Grand Souk Lahore with 600 shops and restaurants will also be established on Ferozepur Road.
Officials have informed the Chief Minister that the CBD plans to build an eco-friendly blue road on the main thoroughfare. CBD CEO Imran Amin presented the review report for Quaid, Bab and Pindi districts.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior State Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb, State Minister for Information and Culture Asma Zahid Bukhari, Member of Parliament Sania Ashiq and Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik attended the meeting. Principal Secretary, P&D Chairman, COO CBD Brigadier General Mansoor Janjua, Finance Secretary, Principal Secretary and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion.
