A 2023 research study conducted by Dr. Angela Bryan, a member of the University of Colorado Cancer Center, found that over-the-counter cannabis products can help cancer patients deal with issues such as pain, anxiety, insomnia, and depression, and improve cognitive function. was also found to have improved.
Unlike a 2023 study that provided participants with information about THC and CBD and asked them to choose their favorite cannabis edible product from a local dispensary, the new study will provide the products directly to participants. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three full-spectrum CBD products that contain small amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive part of the cannabis plant. Broad-spectrum CBD without THC. Or a placebo. (Marijuana is still a Schedule 1 drug, but hemp-derived CBD is legal at the federal level.)
We spoke to Brian to learn more about the study and what she hopes to discover.
