Inspired by personal experiences with cannabis and its benefits, two close friends are launching a South Jersey dispensary that promotes the mental and physical benefits of cannabis.
The female- and Hispanic-owned BestBuds, located at 135 S. Broad St. in Woodbury, will hold a two-day grand opening celebration starting Oct. 11.
BestBuds, co-founded by Laura Trujillo and Amanda Terpstra, seeks to set a new standard in cannabis retail by focusing on consumer education, community engagement, and promoting female leadership.
The two became friends at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where they were both on the soccer team. They also discovered a shared passion for bringing the benefits of cannabis to others. Trujillo used marijuana recreationally when she was younger, but when she was diagnosed with PTSD, it became an important part of her recovery. That led her to explore the medicinal use of cannabis, which helped bring her the peace and balance she craved. After facing significant hardship due to a sports-related injury, Terpstra discovered that cannabis was one of the few things that truly alleviated pain and aided the recovery process.

In addition to an all-female leadership team, Best Buds has a bilingual staff and is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative space.
The BestBuds product line includes premium flowers, edible plants, and concentrates carefully selected to meet the needs of both new and experienced users.
“Being able to open one of the few female- and Hispanic-owned dispensaries in New Jersey has been a challenging journey, especially finding the best talent in the industry to lead our team,” said Trujillo. We are proud to realize our vision and provide a place where women are uplifted and cannabis education is a priority.”
Terpstra added, “We really want to set the standard for women to stay in the cannabis industry, which is why we send a strong message by having a female leadership team. We are committed to the conversation. They’re not just participating in the conversation, they’re leading the conversation.”
The BestBuds grand opening event will be held on October 11th and October 12th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The festivities will include special promotions and meet-and-greets with local vendors.
The store will be open as follows.
