Florida poll shows disagreement over potential marijuana legalization vote

Two different polls in Florida are divided on the fate of the state's Amendment 3 marijuana legalization, which is scheduled to go before voters this November. If approved, Amendment 3 would add the legalization of adult-use cannabis to the state constitution and allow current medical marijuana dispensaries to sell adult-use products.

A poll by Florida Atlantic University found that a majority of registered voters, 56%, said they planned to vote in favor of the adult-use marijuana legalization initiative. However, because the initiative calls for a constitutional amendment, at least 60% support would be needed for the bill to pass. Meanwhile, 29% of voters said they would vote against the measure, and 15% were undecided. The poll was conducted Aug. 10-11 and surveyed 1,055 registered Florida voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

However, a separate poll conducted by 7News and Suffolk University from August 7th to 11th found that 63% of voters answered “yes” to the question “Should recreational marijuana be legalized?” It turned out that. The poll, which polled 500 likely Florida general election voters in both English and Spanish, had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points, the pollster said.

“The marijuana question has broad support across all demographics,” David Paleologos, director of the Center for Political Studies at Suffolk University, said in the report.

Of the two polls, the 7News/Suffolk University poll is more in line with other recent poll results.

A poll last month found that 64% of voters supported the reforms. A few weeks earlier, another poll found that 64% of voters supported reform. In a June Fox News poll, 66% of voters said they would vote in favor of the legalization amendment.

But another poll from earlier this year, released in April, found only 49% of voters supported the reforms.
