ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — The New York State Cannabis Control Board recommends that adults safely store cannabis products out of the reach of children during Halloween. This includes keeping cannabis items that look like candy away to prevent potential use.
According to Lila Hunt, deputy director of the Department of Public Health and Education, OCM reports that most cannabis exposure incidents among youth occur in the home, not during trick-or-treating. There is. Hunt added that parents should be aware that edibles, seltzers and drinks may contain cannabis and should store them. Cannabis beverages must be kept separate from non-cannabis items.

“When the kids get home, be sure to check the candy, make sure the product hasn't been tampered with, and check to see if there are any allergens that might be of concern to the young people in your life,” Hunt said.
If a child ingests a cannabis product, people can contact the Poison Control Center at 800-222-1222 to speak with a medical professional about how to address the problem. Signs of cannabis exposure in children include sluggishness, changes in breathing, increased breathing, and feeling clammy and cold.
