Cannabis products sold at 14 stores in Maine recalled due to health and safety concerns

The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy is recalling cannabis products recently sold at 14 adult-use retail stores in the state because they failed tests for bacteria, yeast and mold. All unmilled cannabis flower, pre-rolls and blunts are included in the recall. Officials said the health and safety recall was based on an investigation of data irregularities between mandatory test results reported to Maine OCP and subsequent audit tests conducted by the agency. According to the Maine OCP, the recalled cannabis products failed testing for microorganisms (aerobic bacteria and Enterobacteriaceae), yeast, and mold. The products were sold from Sept. 17 to Oct. 8 at cannabis retail stores in Brunswick, Columbia and Greenville Junction. , Lebanon, Lisbon, Mechanic Falls, Medway, Newport, Portland, Presque Isle, South Portland, Turner. Inhaling cannabis that contains dangerous levels of microorganisms and mold can cause sinus problems, allergies, headaches, dizziness, and flu-like symptoms. Maine OCP stated in its recall: Authorities said consumers who purchased these products should return them to retailers or throw them away. If you take these products and experience any symptoms or side effects, contact your doctor immediately. This recall comes a month after Maine OCP issued its first health and safety recall for cannabis products. OCP said all adult-use cannabis is prohibited in Maine. A label with the product batch number must be affixed to the package. Consumers should check the label of their cannabis flower or pre-roll for the batch number listed under “Product Information” below. Single 1.5 gram and 3 gram pre-rolls and 1 gram blunts sold in 4-packs are marked with the batch number. “1A40D0300002329000005185” was sold from September 28th to October 8th. Packages of 1/8 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz pre-milled flowers. Single prerolls of 0.5 gram, 1 gram, 1.5 gram, and 3 gram. The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy is recalling cannabis products recently sold at 14 adult-use retail stores in the state after failing tests for bacteria, yeast and mold.

The recalled crushed cannabis flower, pre-rolls and blunts are all of the Frosted Cookie variety and were produced by Massachusetts-based Nova Farms.

Officials said the health and safety recall was based on an investigation into data irregularities between mandatory test results reported to Maine OCP and subsequent audit tests conducted by the agency. .
