MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) – A Morgantown construction company owner was arrested Monday on charges of harboring illegal immigrants.
Hetson Reyes, owner and operator of A&M Homes, is accused of hiring and harboring illegal immigrants to work for his company, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Officials said Reyes, also known as Hector, used someone else's Social Security number to prepare personal tax forms and provided false driver's licenses to West Virginia Department of Labor inspectors. He is said to have prepared passports and immigration documents.
Reyes was charged with one count of conspiracy to harbor aliens for commercial gain and personal financial gain, 32 counts of false representation regarding social security numbers, one count of corrupt interference with the proper administration of tax laws, and visa-related charges. He has been charged with one count of fraud. document.
He faces up to 10 years in federal prison for each of the conspiracy and fraud charges, five years each for the misrepresentation charge, and up to three years in federal prison for the corrupt interference charge.
The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, the Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigation Division, and the Social Security Administration's Office of Inspector General.
