Adult-use cannabis sales in Ohio exceeded $76.2 million in less than two months after its launch, according to data from the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC). Since opening adult-use sales in August, retailers in the state have sold 8,813 pounds of “plant material” and 1,187,395 manufactured products.
The average price of cannabis products continues to decline month-on-month, with the average cost per gram dropping from $24.24 per tenth ounce of flower in the first week of September to $23.74 in the second week. Over the same period, the average price per gram of flower fell from $8.57 to $8.39, while the average selling price of the product fell from $30.39 to $30.04.
There are currently 124 dispensaries licensed to sell medical and non-medical cannabis products in the state. As of September 23, 111 municipalities and townships have passed moratoriums prohibiting adult-use cannabis businesses from operating within their borders, according to the Ohio State University Moritz School of Law. Most of these bans are in communities with populations of 10,000 or fewer. 25 are in communities with populations between 10,001 and 20,000 people. 27 people live in communities with populations between 20,001 and 50,000 people. and six locations in communities with a population of 50,000 or more.
The state's major cities have the most adult-use pharmacies, with 13 in Columbus, 10 in Cincinnati, six in Dayton and five in Cleveland, according to the university.
