Homicide squad detectives are appealing for public assistance in locating Todd Menegald after a man was seriously injured in the CBD earlier this week.
Investigators believe he will assist in the investigation into the serious assault of a 44-year-old Seddon man on Elizabeth Street at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, October 9.
The Seddon man was walking from Flinders Street to Elizabeth Street when a man approached him and punched him in the head.
He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he remains.
Homicide squad detectives conducted an extensive search in recent days to locate Menegald.
He is said to be around 180 to 185 centimeters tall and of a thin build.
Menegald also goes by the nickname “Rooster” and owns a black-and-white Staffordshire Terrier.
Police released images and surveillance cameras of Menegald in the hope that someone would come forward with information about his current whereabouts.
He is known to frequent Melbourne's CBD, particularly around Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street stations, as well as the Mildura and Bendigo areas.
He was last seen wearing a purple zip-up sweater, dark jeans, and a yellow beanie.
Anyone who witnesses Menegald should not approach him and contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
