A University of Michigan National Poll on Healthy Aging released last week found that 21% of all respondents age 50 and older had used cannabis containing THC at least once in the past year. The survey found that 12% (more than half) of people who used cannabis products did so at least once a month.
The study found that people between the ages of 50 and 64, those in good or poor health, or from low-income households were more likely to report at least monthly cannabis use.
The top reason the cohort consumes cannabis is to relax (81%), followed by to help sleep (68%), to feel better (64%), for pain relief (63%) and to improve mental health or mood. It was to improve. Almost 80% of respondents said they believe cannabis is more potent today than it was 20 to 30 years ago.
