Chaos In The CBD has remixed Nathan Haines' latest single “Belo Dia.” Enjoy a special first listen below.
Set to be released on Loop/EMK this Friday (October 18th), the remix is the first we've heard this year from the New Zealand-raised, London-based duo, following a summer of groundbreaking shows in London, Milan and London. It will be a new song. To Tokyo and beyond. Brothers Ben and Lewis Helicar Hales (better known as Beans) released their 11th studio album, Notes, in August from fellow Kiwi producer and saxophonist extraordinaire Nathan Haynes. I was asked to reconsider “Bello Dia”, which was included in the album.
Originally composed as a love letter to Brazilian music, the duo take this track from the beach to the dancefloor, flowing with their typical deep house beats under Haynes' gentle flute melodies and analog synth work. It introduces a groove like this.
“I love the Chaos guys, and their remix of 'Bello Dia' maintains almost every musical element of the original while adding a classic Chaos spin,” Haynes told DJ Mag. spoke. “I'm definitely going to play this in my set. Thanks Lewis and Beans!”
Chaos in the CBD have previously collaborated with Haynes on songs “Emotional Intelligence” (2020) and “Sirena Deep” (2023), which combine soul and jazz textures with dance music traditions. They share the multi-instrumentalist's passion for fusion.
“A few years ago, Ben asked me to play on the track that became 'Emotional Intelligence,'” Haynes said. “I didn't know much about Chaos In The CBD at that stage, but I loved the vibe and the fact that it was on my friend's label in Italy, Neroli, was perfect. Then recently, Ben Sirena Deep” and asked him to play something he liked on the flute.”
