Starbucks has a holiday gift for almond milk lovers and oat milk lovers this year.
The coffee chain's CEO, Brian Nicol, said on an earnings call Wednesday that the coffee chain will stop charging surcharges on non-dairy milk substitutes starting next month.
Starting Nov. 7, Starbucks will eliminate surcharges for U.S. customers, and some consumers could save more than 10% on their orders, Nicol said.
Non-dairy milk substitution is the second most popular customization after extra shots of espresso, Nichol said.
“We know that customization is an important part of the Starbucks experience, and we want to make it easy for customers to order their drinks just the way they want them while feeling like they're getting their money's worth.” he said.
Additional costs for non-dairy milk can reach up to 80 cents per order in certain markets, CNBC reports.
The announcement comes as Starbucks expects U.S. sales to decline in a quarter that Nicol described as “disappointing.”
The former Chipotle CEO joined Starbucks in September with the goal of revitalizing the struggling chain.
