The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a murder at a Florida hemp distribution store.
Officers arrived at the store at 220 West Tennessee Street just before 6 p.m. and found “an adult male deceased inside the store,” according to a TPD news bulletin.
TPD spokeswoman Heather Merritt said the homicide was a shooting and was the 47th serious shooting this year in the capital city and county.
By 2024, 18 people will be killed and at least 39 others will be injured, according to the Tallahassee Democrat's gun violence analysis.
All involved have been identified, but no one was in custody as of Friday night. Merritt said whether the victim and suspect knew each other and the circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
“Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident but did not speak with officers at the scene to call 850-891-4200,” TPD said. “You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.”
The murder occurred hours after Tallahassee and dozens of other cities began recovering debris from Hurricane Helen.
