At this year's Telethon Family Festival, kids can put a surfboard on the Bosu Ball for the ultimate test of balance.
The festival is set to take over Perth's CBD for the fifth consecutive year, with more free, family-friendly fun than ever before.
A key part of the festival will be highlighting the hard work of over 100 telethon beneficiaries at the APM Charity Zone. Collect stamps along the way and have a chance to win various prizes.
One of these beneficiaries, Ocean Heroes, will be installing surfboards at Bosu Ball to give children the opportunity to test their balance skills.
Since 2016, Ocean Heroes has been giving children living with autism the opportunity to embrace their inner surfer. Now, children visiting the APM Charity Zone will have the same opportunity.
Xander de Haan, Ocean Heroes event program coordinator, said families can also learn how Ocean Heroes works to boost children's confidence through the surfing program. .
“Telethons do great work in the community, so partnering with them makes a lot of sense for us and for the families we serve,” he said. Ta.
“The Telethon Fund essentially funded our regional programs, so we were able to provide free programs to families from Broome in the north, along the coast, and south to Esperance.
“Telethon has really helped us serve local communities that don't have a lot of resources. We're really fortunate to be able to fill that gap with our program.”
Other highlights of the APM Charity Zone include playing dodgeball with the White Zebra, becoming a mini-scientist with the Kids Research Institute Australia and shooting a goal against the Paramatildas goalkeeper with the Football Futures Foundation.
The festival will take over the RAC Arena, Telethon Avenue, Wellington Street and Yagan Square, and will feature free carnival rides at the LotteryWest Kids Carnival.
Located on the grassy area opposite the RAC Arena, the carnival is also packed with showbag stalls and sideshow games.

Mascots from across Perth will also take part in a dance competition to be held at Yagan Square from 12.45pm.
Families can experience the thrill of inclusive sports, including tennis, for the first time at All Abilities.
