COP16 will be the first biodiversity COP since the adoption of the Global Biodiversity Framework. During COP 16, governments will review progress towards implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework and the level of alignment of the plan with National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs). At COP16, governments will further negotiate the monitoring framework, advance resource mobilization (particularly how to finance implementation), and finalize the multilateral mechanism for fair and equitable access and benefit sharing (ABS) through the use of digital sequence information. With participants from more than 190 countries, COP16 brings together governments, observer organizations, indigenous communities, businesses, youth groups, civil society, academia, and the general public.
UNDP at COP16
